Hannah Larson Chivers
MALAD, Idaho – Mrs. Hannah Larson Chivers, 81, died at the family residence Saturday afternoon. She suffered a paralytic stroke several days previously.
Mrs. Chivers was born in Copenhagen, Denmark in August 1859, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lars Peterson. She came to America with her parents in 1868. The family was among the earliest settlers of Malad valley.
She was married to Richard E. Thomas in June 1879 and following his death to James T. Chivers on March 29, 1898.
Besides her husband, 4 daughters and sons survive. Mrs. Maude Sawyer of Logan, Utah; Edward Thomas, Tetonia, Idaho; Mrs. Alfred Edward, Malad, Mrs. Ariel Kidgell, Idaho Falls.

MALAD CITY, Ida. – Services for Mrs. Hannah Larson Chivers, 81, were held today at 12 o’clock noon in the Malad Stake Tabernacle.
Mrs. Chivers died at the family residence last Friday, following a paralytic stroke on Monday. She was born in Copenhagen, Denmark in August, 1859, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lars Peterson. She came to America with her parents in 1868 and the family was among the early settlers of the Malad Valley.
She was married to Richard E. Thomas, who died, and later to James T. Chivers.
Mrs. Chivers is survived by her husband, three daughters and two sons: Mrs. Maude Sawyer of Logan, Edward Thomas of Tetonia, Ida., Mrs. Alfred Edwards of Malad, and Mrs. Ariel Kidgell of Idaho Falls, Ida.

Services Held For Pioneer, 94
MALAD – Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. yesterday in the Second Ward Chapel, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for James T. Chivers, 94, who died Tuesday in the Oneida Hospital.
Mr. Chivers was born in St. Fagets, Cardiff, Wales, Dec. 23, 1853, a son of James H. and Eliza Thomas Chivers. In 1862 the family came to the United States, settling in Brigham City. They moved to Malad in 1866. Mr. Chivers married Mary Ann Richards in 1877, following the death of his first wife Elizabeth Jones Chivers. Seven children were born of the union. Mrs. Chivers died in 1895, and he married Hannah Thomas in 1898. Two children were born before Mrs. Chivers died in 1941.
Mr. Chivers was a farmer at St. John for many years, was at one time county coroner, and had been custodian at Oneida County court house for the past eight years.
Surviving are six sons and daughters: Mrs. John O. Thomas, Berkeley, Calif.; Mrs. D. P. Evans, Mrs. W. E. Evans, and James R. Chivers, Malad; Hyrum R. Chivers, American Falls; and Mrs. Della Kidgell, Idaho Falls; 25 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

[Calendar check on PAF shows that June 29, 1948 was really a Tuesday, which confirms the information here. Also, July 1, 1948, the date of the funeral, really was a Thursday. Ancestral File lists the year of his death as 1947 and his burial as 1948, so obviously one of them was incorrect. The date check points to 1948 as being the correct year.]
